78-year-old man arrested in Maharashtra for stealing two buffaloes and a calf nearly 60 years ago
A 78-year-old man in Udagir, Maharashtra, was arrested for a crime dating back to 1965. The man, Ganapati Vitthal Wagore, was allegedly involved in the theft of two buffaloes and a calf when he was 20 years old. This arrest is part of the Bidar po...

This arrest is part of the Bidar police's long-pending cases project, known as LPC, and it marks one of the oldest cases they are currently investigating. Bidar, which shares its borders with Maharashtra, has often faced challenges related to inter-state crime.
Vitthal's co-accused, Krishna Chandar, who was 30 years old at the time of the theft in 1965, managed to evade arrest and passed away in 2006. Chennabasavanna Langoti, Superintendent of Police in Bidar, revealed that Vitthal had been eluding the authorities for years, playing a game of cat and mouse.
The stolen buffaloes and calf, however, were quickly traced back to their owner, Muralidhar Manikarao Kulkarni, in Kurki village, Latur district, Maharashtra. According to the police, Kulkarni passed away a few years ago.
Surprisingly, Vitthal had not profited from his involvement in this decades-old crime. As the case unfolds, it is expected that Vitthal may be granted bail, especially considering his advanced age.
