A police team arrived at the scene and found that the child had been rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The police officer stated, “On Saturday, around 6:30 pm, a PCR call regarding the drowning of a child in a park in Sector 20 in Rohini was received at Aman Vihar Police Station.” The body has been sent for post-mortem, and an investigation is ongoing, including a review of CCTV footage to understand the sequence of events.
Fire in Fatehpur Beri
In Fatehpur Beri, a fire erupted at a four-storey residential building, leading to the hospitalization of fourteen people. The blaze started on the ground floor due to a short circuit, according to a preliminary investigation by the Delhi Police.
The fire caused significant damage, including to vehicles and electric meters in the building’s stilt parking area. Delhi Fire Service reported receiving the call from Jagbir Colony, Asola Village, and dispatched three fire tenders to the site. Police mentioned that two individuals suffered burn injuries, while others had breathing problems due to smoke inhalation.
Severe Weather Causes Disruptions
Heavy rains in Delhi and Gurugram on Saturday night and Sunday led to severe waterlogging and traffic disruptions. Gurugram experienced substantial rainfall, recording 53 mm by 8:30 am, with some areas seeing over 80 mm.
Key areas, including the Gurugram-Delhi Expressway and several subways, were significantly impacted, causing major traffic jams. Commuters struggled through waterlogged roads. Delhi also faced heavy downpours, leading to waterlogging in various parts of the city.
The district administration is addressing the impact of the rainfall, while investigations into the drowning and fire incidents are ongoing. Authorities are working to manage the aftermath of the severe weather and prevent future occurrences.
