At least six Army personnel were injured in a landmine explosion on Tuesday near Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials said that the incident took place near Khamba Fort in Nowshera sector, when troops were on patrol duty and one of the armymen stepped on the landmine at around 10.45 am, triggering the explosion. They said the injured were shifted to a medical facility and their condition was stable.

The officials said the armyman accidentally stepped on the landmine as the forward areas near LoC are dotted with such landmines as part of an anti-infiltration system.

The officials said sometimes these landmines get washed away by rains, resulting in such incidents.
