Around 422 BLT (Bodo Liberation Tigers) cadres were given Rs 2 lakhs as part of the rehabilitation package.

These are cadres from outside the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and were left out for rehabilitation. These left out 442 former BLT cadres hail from 12 districts of Assam outside BTR viz. Kamrup(M), Biswanath, Charaideo, Dhemaji, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Kamrup (R), Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Goalpara and West Karbi Anglong.

Since 2020, five historic Memorandum of Settlements (MoS) were signed by the Government of India and Government of Assam with the NDFB, Karbi groups, Adivasi groups, DNLA and ULFA which are paving way to permanent peace in the region. Total 9022 former cadres of the MoS signed groups have joined mainstream.


As per MoS these cadres have been rehabilitated under Surrender cum Rehabilitation policy. Apart from this, another 2150 cadres of different smaller militant groups are also rehabilitated under Assam Government.

Skill development training for the surrendered cadres were organized by the Special Branch, Assam Police in collaboration with various schemes of the Government Departments including Agriculture, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Fishery, Horticulture etc.

Thursday’s Financial Grant Distribution Ceremony has been organized by the Home Department and Special Branch of Assam Police. Hagrama Mohilary, Chief of BTC, Assam attended the programme. Jayanta Malla Baruah, Minister Public Health Engineering Department Assam also attended the programme.
