The discussions were held as part of the 33rd meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) on India-China border affairs in Beijing.
Resumption of Kailash Mansarovar yatra from this summer was agreed when India's foreign secretary travelled to Beijing last month.
The Indian delegation at Tuesday's meeting was led by Gourangalal Das, joint secretary (East Asia), and the Chinese delegation was led by Hong Liang, director general of boundary and oceanic affairs of the foreign ministry.
The meeting comprehensively reviewed the situation along the Line of Actual Control. Peace and tranquility in the border areas are critical for the smooth development of overall bilateral relations, officials in New Delhi said.
