Noida deluge: Hundreds of cars left submerged as Hindon river overflows
Rains continue to batter various parts of northern India. While the hilly areas of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh saw the maximum devastation; other areas too are witnessing heavy losses due to unprecedented rains.

This time, it was the turn of Uttar Pradesh's Noida where around 300 cars got submerged due to increase in the water level of Hindon river.

The cars were in the Ecotech 3 area.

It is not clear whether it was a yard for new cars or a private garage.

Water levels in the Hindon River have been rising for the last few days.

Earlier this week, many houses in the low lying areas of Noida got flooded.

"From Chhijarsi to Ecotech, water entered the houses in three low-lying areas. Poeple were evacuated from the houses," Suresh Rao A. Kulkarni, Additional Police Commissioner told ANI earlier this Sunday.

Adding further, Kulkarni said, "Taking precautions, police teams have been deployed at places. People were made to stay at nearby schools and 'Barat' houses. Proper arrangements have been made for them. We are keeping an eye on the water level".

The Hindon River is a tributary of the Yamuna River, which is causing havoc in neighbouring Delhi, where people in several places have been struggling with waterlogging and flood-like situations for the past few days.

The water level of the Yamuna river in Delhi followed a downward trend on Tuesday, though it was still above the danger level of 205.33 metres.

Delhi grappled with unprecedented waterlogging and floods this month.

Initially, a downpour caused intense waterlogging on July 8 and 9, with the city receiving 125 per cent of its monthly rainfall quota in just two days.

Subsequently, heavy rain in the river's upper catchment areas, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Haryana, led to the Yamuna's water swelling to record levels.

The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rain in parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand till July 27.
