3 injured citizens of Myanmar rushed to Imphal Hospital

A senior Manipur Police officer told ET: “One person was killed and seven others injured in the firing. It was a midnight raid on the civilians by the Myanmar forces. These people crossed Moreh at around 4 am on Friday.”

Three Myanmarese nationals, who were allegedly fired upon by the Myanmar security personnel, were rushed to a hospital in Manipur on Friday. The incident took place in Tamu when a group of Myanmarese nationals was trying to enter India.

A senior Manipur Police officer told ET: “One person was killed and seven others injured in the firing. It was a midnight raid on the civilians by the Myanmar forces. These people crossed Moreh at around 4 am on Friday.”

He said the injured were rushed to a hospital in Imphal. Security has been beefed up in the state. In a related incident, eight Myanmarese nationals attempted to enter “Manipur but they were pushed back”. The officer said Assam Rifles, which guards India-Myanmar borders, had held a series of meetings with village chiefs along the border areas.


Recently, Mizoram CM Zoramthanga had urged the Centre to give asylum to those fleeing Myanmar.
