Two non-local labourers from Uttar Pradesh were killed in a grenade attack in the wee hours of Tuesday in Harmain village of Shopian in southern Kashmir. Police have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the attack.

The two labourers who worked in apple orchards during the harvest season were identified as Ram Sagar and Monish Kumar, both residents of Kanauj of UP.

Police claimed the person who allegedly threw the grenade, Imran Bashir Ganei, who lives near the metal and wood shack where the incident took place, has been arrested along with his associate.

"These migrant labourers lived in a shack. The attackers moved the covering of the shack and threw the grenade. We have arrested a hybrid terrorist and he has confessed to having executed the attack. His associate who moves around with him has been arrested as well," said Vijay Kumar, additional DGP, Kashmir zone. He said the duo executed the attack on the orders of the LeT's active commander in Shopian.
