Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said the government has three main pillars of the policy on Left Wing Extremism: Ruthless curbing of extreme violence, better coordination between the Center and the states and development. Shah was chairing a consultative committee meeting on LWE with members of both Houses of Parliament.

"The number of most-affected LWE districts has fallen to 25 from 35. Since 2019, forces have achieved great success in breaking the backbone of LWE by setting up 175 camps in the affected areas, reducing the security vacuum and neutralising the top leadership," Shah said at the meeting.

"The number of civilian and security personnel killed in LWE incidents has reduced to 98 in 2022, from 1005 in 2010," the home ministry stated.
