An estimated 11,000 billion tonnes of garbage in India can be recycled, environment minister Bhupender Yadav has said. The Centre has its focus on circular economy and on reusing and recycling waste, he said. "All relevant departments are working towards a circular economy, with the environment ministry as the nodal ministry," he said.

"Urban development ministry, steel ministry, chemicals ministry, etc., have contributed through programmes and promotion. "We must give back to nature at least some part of what we take from it, instead of producing garbage." He said an electronic policy regulation has been framed to manage e-waste. Yadav was speaking at Vision East: Green Initiatives led Growth & Employment organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce.
