Eleven expatriates from Andhra Pradesh are yet to register with the Indian embassy in violence-hit Sudan for repatriation, the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS) said.

According to APNRTS Chief Executive P Hemalatha Rani, a total of 69 people from the southern state have been identified to be in the African nation thus far, out of whom 58 have registered themselves with the embassy while 11 people are yet to approach the Indian mission.

Out of the 58, 48 have been safely repatriated to India while the remaining 10 are in transit. Out of the 10, six were scheduled to land in Delhi on Saturday night and four more in Bengaluru by Sunday morning. Of the 48 evacuees who returned to India, 45 have managed to reach their hometowns while three are quarantined, two at Bengaluru airport and one at Delhi, for want of yellow fever vaccination.

"Indian embassy in Sudan is shifting Indian expats to Port Sudan and from there to Jeddah. Later, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is flying them back to airports in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru," said Rani in a press note.

Meanwhile, on behalf of AP government, various district officials and APNRTS are monitoring the situation of the evacuees, receiving them on landing and arranging travel to Visakhapatnam or Vijayawada by road or air on the state's expense.
