The incident has shocked fans and followers of the 47-year-old actor, as he appeared to be in good health. Cardiologist Dr. Ajay Kaul from Fortis Hospital, Noida, told TOI that heart attacks can occur in younger individuals, dispelling the misconception that it only affects older people or those with known risk factors. While lifestyle choices and genetics do play a role in heart health, there are other lesser-known factors that contribute to early heart attacks.
Genetics can increase the likelihood of experiencing heart problems at a younger age, especially if there is a family history of premature heart disease. Underlying conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol can silently contribute to heart disease progression, even if they are seemingly controlled. Intense stress, poor dietary habits, lack of physical activity, and smoking are well-known factors that can accelerate heart issues, even in younger individuals. Ignoring or misinterpreting subtle symptoms, such as chest discomfort, shortness of breath, fatigue, or unexplained pain, can also lead to complications.
Dr. Kaul advises individuals who have experienced a heart attack at a young age to seek ongoing medical support and undergo a comprehensive evaluation by a cardiologist. Adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet, regular exercise, stress management, and quitting smoking, is crucial in reducing the risk of future cardiac events. Compliance with prescribed medications for managing conditions like hypertension, cholesterol, and diabetes is also essential. Emotional support from family, friends, or professional counseling can aid in the recovery process.
