If you reside in Delhi and have received a fine against your vehicle's registration number, you can petition the District Magistrate to lower or dismiss the fine altogether. This applies to various infractions like lack of insurance, running red lights, speeding, over-speeding, or pollution-related violations. You have the option to appear in court during the National Lok Adalat and request a reduction or dismissal of the fine.
To settle their case, offenders must obtain an e-challan and attend the National Lok Adalat. Prior reservation is necessary for those planning to attend. Registration for the Lok Adalat, slated for May 11th, will open on May 7th. You can visit the Delhi Police notice website at https://traffic.delhipolice.gov.in/notice/lokadalat.
Upon entering the site, you'll need to select your locality to view the available courts. There are ample slots accessible. You'll be required to input all necessary information. Each appointment will address only one vehicle's challan. If you have multiple vehicles, you'll need to schedule separate appointments for each.
The crucial aspect to remember is the timing of your appointment. If you're late, you might miss your slot due to rapid filling. These slots are available for a short duration, and bookings must be made exclusively during this time.
Once you've completed the booking, you must appear in court on May 11th. The judge will then determine the payment amount or may even waive the entire challan.
Here's the process for online reservation for the National Lok Adalat 2023:
