Police takes custody of a bull as villagers demand arrest

Police was left in a quandary after angry villagers demanded the "arrest" of a bull for goring a man to death.

KENDRAPARA (Orissa): Police was left in a quandary after angry villagers demanded the "arrest" of a bull for goring a man to death.

The unusual demand was made following the tragic death of a man in Tikayatpur village under Rajnagar police station, Police said

The victim Pravanjan Sahu bled profusely after the animal attacked him, police said, adding the victim died on the way to Rajnagar hospital on October 27.

The villagers later caught the killer animal and the police faced a dilemma following a strong demand for the "arrest" of the animal and that "murder" charge slapped.

The police made futile attempts to convince the people that an animal cannot be "booked" for any "offence".

But the police took the bull into their custody in a bid to pacify the irate people.
