Solar Impulse to land in Ahmedabad tomorrow; Head for Varanasi after four days

The Solar Impulse, world's first solar powered aircraft that took off from Abu Dhabi on Monday morning, is expected to reach Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

NEW DELHI: The Solar Impulse, world's first solar powered aircraft that took off from Abu Dhabi on Monday morning, is expected to reach Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

The aircraft, which is on its historic around-the-world-in-a-solar airplane-flight, will stay in Ahmedabad for four days.

Subsequently, the aircraft will make a stop in Varanasi before flying out of India to Myanmar.

"While in Ahmedabad, several events are planned on the theme of renewable energy and sustainable development", said a Switzerland Embassy press statement.

Switzerland, that has ranked first for the fourth consecutive year on the global innovative index, is home to this cutting edge innovation.

The Solar Impulse, which is aimed to show power of clean energy, is being supported by the Swiss government.
