On World Environment Day, PM Narendra Modi pledges to save 'mother Earth'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday sought people's participation in protecting environment and also pledged to save the "mother earth" through government efforts.

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday sought people's participation in protecting environment and also pledged to save the "mother Earth" through government efforts.

Setting the tone for his government's green agenda on the occasion of the World Environment Day, Modi said, "Lets serve as trustees, where we utilise our natural resources for the present and at the same time ensure happiness of future generations".

He said, "We are blessed to be a part of a culture where living in complete harmony with the environment is central to our ethos".

Conveying his message and pledge through his personal Twitter handle, the Prime Minister tweeted: " Along with government efforts, people's participation can make a big difference in creating a cleaner and greener planet".

"World Environment Day- a day to bow to Mother Earth and to reaffirm our pledge to protect the Environment, making our planet cleaner and greener", he tweeted.
