Delhi boys to perform street plays in Goa on environment

PANAJI: A group of teenagers from a Delhi-based NGO will take to streets in Goa to tell people 'how cool its to be environment-friendly'.

Around 22 youths from Manzil Welfare Society, a NGO based in Khan Market, Delhi, will be performing street plays at different locations in Goa on October 9, on the the eve of 'A Global Day of Doing.'

10:10:10, 'A Global Day of Doing', is an international event in which green groups have joined hands for saving Mother Earth on October 10.

In Goa, various events are organised in the run up to the event by number of individuals and NGOs working for the cause.

"The street play was conceived a year ago. Its a ten-minute act which will tell people about the environment friendly," Ranjodh Singh, who heads the group in Goa, told PTI on Wednesday.

The untitled play focusing on bio-waste, has already been recited on streets of Delhi and various parts of the country, he said.

The play has been penned by Jai Kumar (16) and Anand Chaurasia (15).

Suraj Singh Chauhan, a group member said they were on their learning trip to Goa when they came across this event being put together by various NGOs on October 10.

"We thought that why not to take the opportunity and make our trip more memorable," he said.

Manzil is a non-profit organisation providing community and resources for local youth from low-income background to learn, teach, and be creative in their endeavour to see the world in new ways.
