CFLs to light your lives!
If all 4.5 million bulbs in Mumbai were to be changed to CFLs then the peak hour shortage of 250 MW can be met. Some 600 million people are still without electricity in India.
By switching from common electric bulb (incandescent lighting) to CFLs, an average consumer can save 50 to 80 per cent in energy costs without any loss in lighting quality. The average CFLs lasts 8 to 10 times longer than a normal bulb.
According to estimates, replacing all regular bulbs in India with CFLs can cut 55 million tonnes of CO2 release, which is equal to 30 per cent of the CO2 emissions of vehicles in India).
So replace your electricity-guzzling ordinary bulbs with more efficient types of CFLs, which use 75 per cent less electricity. Save Power, Save Money.
