A woman died of liver infection caused due to polluted water in Tibra village, triggering protests by locals against the administration, police said.

GHAZIABAD: A woman died of liver infection caused due to polluted water in Tibra village, triggering protests by locals against the administration, police said.

The 42-year-old woman, who was undergoing treatment since last six months for liver infection, died yesterday. According to doctors the disease was caused due to polluted water.

Protesting the incident villagers shouted slogans against the administration, saying water in half of the village was not drinkable.

A protester said the only pond in the village is highly polluted and black coloured water come out from the hand pumps. Even after repeated appeal the administration has not done anything in this regard.
