Two-day national conference on 'Waste Management and Pollution Control'

BELGAUM: Institute of Engineers (India), Belgaum in association with department of Civil Engineering of KLE College of Engineering and Technology will be conducting two day national conference on `Waste Management and Pollution Control' at Institute of Engineers premise on March 7 and 8.

Organizing Committee Chairman Sidramappa V Itti said, “The objective of the 2-day conference is to bring the scholars, experts from academia and industry on a common platform to interact for the useful dissemination of knowledge for the present and future needs. Eminent personalities in the field of environmental engineering who have achieved in the subject have been invited to deliver lectures during the two-day conference. More than 90 papers from subject related experts from across the country were received out of which 74 papers are selected for presentation on topics like solid waste, hazardous waste, air and noise pollution, waste water treatment techniques, water pollution and remedial measures and application of remote sensing and GIS. Nearly 400 delegates and more than 200 selected students from the colleges are expected to take part in the two day conference”.

Member of Parliament Prabhakar Kore will be inaugurating the event on March 7 at 10am while District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi will preside over the function. Chairman Vamana Acharya of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Bangalore will be the chief guest. Visvesvaraya Technological University, dean faculty D H Rao will be delivering keynote address. Valedictory function will be held on March 8; Karnataka Rural Road Development Agency (KRRDA) chief operating officer M M Hiremath will be the chief guest.
