MoEF changing stance on Nirma plant: Kalsaria

AHMEDABAD/DELHI: Mahuva MLA Dr Kanu Kalsaria, who has been leading a fight against setting up of a cement plant by Nirma, said that Union environment ministry was changing its stance over the plant.

Kalsaria alleged, “The demand for another committee by MoEF was unwarranted when two panels have stated that the area marked for the plant is not wasteland.”

Meanwhile, Supreme Court on Friday made it clear that Nirma will have to scrap its plant in Bhavnagar district if it fails to prove that the project does not fall in eco-sensitive wetlands.
