Model of low-cost eco-friendly car prepared

After Tata's Nano, another low-cost four-wheeler with an estimated price of around 1.20 lakh may be a reality as the students of an engineering college here prepared the model of an eco-friendly car.

MATHURA: After Tata's Nano, another low-cost four-wheeler with an estimated price of around 1.20 lakh may be a reality as the students of an engineering college here prepared the model of an eco-friendly car.

The students of G L A Institute of Engineering and Technology have prepared the model of a car which will run on solar energy and in which three persons could sit comfortably.

"The estimated price of the car is 1.20 lakh. It will have two batteries of 12 volt which could be re-charged in eight hours. Once charged, it will run continuously for three hours with a speed of 65km/hour," the guide of the project and senior lecturer at the college Rajesh Bajaj said.

"The college will bear the cost of this model car," chairman of the college Narayan Das Agrawal stated.

Praising final year student of mechanical engineering Swatantra Kumar, Agrawal said he has been instrumental in innovating the car and he will soon be felicitated by the institute.
