Ground water in Ghaziabad found contaminated

A recent study has found that ground water in residential areas of Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad city is contaminated.

GHAZIABAD: A recent study has found that ground water in residential areas of Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad city is contaminated.

According to a report of government laboratory National Test House (NTH), the samples failed the quality test and were found to have high quantity of Calcium, Chloride and Magnesium.

Normally 30 milligram of Magnesium should be present in one litre of water but in the samples it was found to be ranging from 103 to 810 milligram per litre which is harmful for health. Similarly, Calcium quantity which should not be more than 75 milligram per litre is found to be over 1600 milligram, the report said.

Ground water in Jhandapur, Maharajpur, Kadkad Model and Sahibabad areas has been declared unfit for consumption and can cause serious health ailments, it said.
