Coimbatore police to get tough on noise pollution

The city police have decided to take strict measures to curb noise pollution in the city by seizing air horns and public address system operating in violation of Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) rule 2000.

COIMBATORE: The city police have decided to take strict measures to curb noise pollution in the city by seizing air horns and public address system operating in violation of Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) rule 2000. The speakers and mike sets being operated during night hours will also be seized as per a press release issued by the city police commissionerate.

The police have also asked the city residents to refrain from using public address systems and loud speakers between 10pm and 6am as per the standing rules. Motorists have also been instructed not to use air horns and also maintain silence in the silence zones especially near hospitals and other sensitive installations.
