JICA reviews water, sewerage works
Japanese International Cooperation Agency in India reviewed the progress of water supply and sewerage works in Goa on Tuesday.
Sources meanwhile informed that various works have been listed in the form of packages with a total worth of 1,031 crore. Major work includes expansion of the 160-MLD (million litres per day) Selaulim water treatment plant by another 100-MLD. The augmentation is estimated to cost around 108 crore.
The costliest package is the one involving construction and rehabilitation of the transmission mains for the 36 kilometre stretch from Selaulim to the Verna pumping station. The MS pipeline will be of 1,400 mm diameter upto Margao and 1,200 mm from Margao to Verna. This package is estimated to cost about 280 crore. Construction of the transmission reservoir of 40,000 cubic metres at Sirvoi in Quepem is estimated to cost around 14.91 crore. Work is currently underway in the form of construction of transmission reservoirs and pumping stations in Quepem and Sanguem at estimated costs of 1.95 crore and 1.19 crore respectively.
Also, three sewerage treatment plants will be constructed at Margao, Calangute and Mapusa respectively, including pumping stations at Margao and Calangute at a cost of around 42.46 crore.
