Talk on climate change

CHANDIGARH: The Department of Geography of Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector -11,Chandigarh organized a talk on “Global Warming; Some Possible Consequences”.

Smita Bhutani, Professor, Department of Geography, Panjab University shared her views and sensitized the students and faculty on Climate Change, its indications and Global Warming. She also highlighted the natural and anthropogenic causes of climate change. The phenomenon of climate change is not a recent one but since thousands of years. The possible climate changes may be large stratosphere cooling, reduction of sea ice, polar winter surface warming and rise in global sea mean level.

The future effects will be mountain glaciers shrinking and water quality deteriorated. An interactive session followed after the talk where the students put forth their queries. After all Global Warming has to be stopped as everyone cannot swim!
