Global auto experts to discuss global warming

Experts are converging in the city to deliberate on a range of critical issues such as global warming, safety development and reducing emissions.

NEW DELHI: As the automobile industry gears up for the Auto Expo, global experts are converging in the city to deliberate on a range of critical issues such as global warming, safety development and reducing emissions.
"Around 600 delegates from industry and institutions, from India and abroad, are participating in the 5th International Mobility Conference," R Dayal, organising chairman of the conference, said.
Domestic automobile industry's top leaders, including former managing director of Maruti Suzuki, Jagdish Khattar, Tata Motors MD and SIAM president Ravi Kant and SAE India President Pawan Goenka will lead the Indian participation.
Global delegates include SAE International President Richard Schuam, International Council for Clean Transportation Chairman Alan Lloyd, Associate Administrator of Vehicle Safety Research in the US Joseph Kanianthra, and Henry Ford Technical Fellow at Ford Motor Haren Gandhi.
R C Panda, Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and Teri Director General and Chairman of UN's panel on climate change R K Pachauri will also address the conference.
The theme of the three-day conference starting January 9 is "Emerging Automotive Technologies: Global and Indian Perspective". It coincides with the Auto Expo 2008 in New Delhi, and will be held at India Habitat Centre.
Besides presentations and interaction, the event will have discussions on sustainable mobility and a special student paper presentation to encourage budding engineers.
