Zoo staff bring up forsaken Angel
LUCKNOW: Tough days are in for Angel, the month-old bonnet monkey at the city zoo. The monkey has been abandoned by his mother and the zoo staff are now hand-rearing it. The reasons are not known to zoo authorities as to why the mother monkey has taken off her attention from the baby

"It is seen in many cases here, that mother abandons the baby. Two leopard cubs which came to the zoo were also abandoned by their mother," said zoo director Renu Singh. The zoo has four male and three female bonnet monkeys. This species of monkey is a native of India. These monkeys attain adulthood at 2.5 years of age and have a life span of 15-16 years. Regarding Angel, the director said that he would be re-introduced in his social group once he gained some age.
