World Environment Day 2016: Photos that show the horrifying effects of wildlife crimes
NEW DELHI: World Environment Day is observed every year on June 5 to raise awareness of environmental issues and concerns such as marine pollution, global warming, wildlife crimes. The day aims to encourage people to protect our planet in our own little ways. This year, the United Nation (UN) has called for a worldwide campaign to take strong action to curb illegal trade of wildlife products that are threatening biodiversity. The theme is called Go Wild for Life.

Poaching, smuggling and illegal trade in wildlife products are driving various wildlife species to the brink of extinction.
