Judicial Magistrate First Class A L Deshmukh sentenced Jyotiba alias Jai Nivrutti Parkhe (25) a resident of Akkalkot in Solapur district to six months rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 2,500 for possessing hides of male and female black bucks.

The Pune crime branch police sub inspector Kanchan Jadhav had received reliable information on March 10, 2009 that Parkhe was in possession of a male and female blackbuck hide worth Rs 50,000.

Acting on the tip-off , Parkhe was arrested from the parking opposite Central Building and charge sheeted under the relevant sections of the Wild Life Protection Act, 1972. Assistant public prosecutor Ashok Joshi examined five witnesses including retired doctor of Zoological Survey of India and others to prove the guilt of the accused.
