Wildlife Week to focus on state bird sarus

Principal secretary, forest, VN Garg has directed all divisional commissioners and district magistrates to organise activities like debate, poster making and film shows on conservation of wildlife in schools during the Wildlife Week.


LUCKNOW: Principal secretary, forest, VN Garg has directed all divisional commissioners and district magistrates to organise activities like debate, poster making and film shows on conservation of wildlife in schools during the Wildlife Week.

The Wildlife Week is celebrated from October 1-7. The aim of the Week is to spread awareness among people on conservation of wildlife and encourage them to protect the wildlife habitat. The main focus of Wildlife Week this year would be on the protection and conservation of state bird sarus and state animal swamp deer. Garg also directed the officials to involve NGOs to turn Wildlife Week into a national movement. Students should be given free access to Lucknow and Kanpur zoos during the Week, he said.
