Two poachers held in Kaziranga

Two poachers involved in killing one-horned rhinos in Kaziranga National Park were on Wednesday arrested in Assam's Karbi Anglong district.

GOLAGHAT (Assam): Two poachers involved in killing one-horned rhinos in Kaziranga National Park were on Wednesday arrested in Assam's Karbi Anglong district.

Farse Killock Rongphar (40) and Far Timung (25) were tracked down by a joint team of Kaziranga Park forest personnel and police at Dokmoka village in the district, police said.

The duo were involved in killing of two rhinos in Burapahar and Kohora range of the park in May, besides many others since 1996, park officials said, adding that they were being interrogated at Jakhalabandha police station.

However, the team failed to recover any rhino horns from their possession, as the poachers have sold them off through middlemen from Nagaland, the officials said.
