Two arrested for possessing leopard skin, owls, bear claws

Two leopard skins, owls and four bear claws were recovered and two persons arrested in two separate cases on Friday.

NEW DELHI: Two leopard skins, owls and four bear claws were recovered and two persons arrested in two separate cases on Friday.

"Two leopard skins were seized by the Special Task Force of the Uttarakhand Police at Nandprayag in Chamoli District in the state.

Two persons have been arrested in this connection and one car and five mobile phones having GPS facility were also seized from the accused," an official of Wildlife Protection Society of India (WSPI) said.

In another case, two owls and four bear claws were seized by the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department at Mathura railway station.

"One of the owls is alive but the other was found dead," the WSPI activist said.

Earlier this month, Uttar Pradesh Forest Department had seized a live owl in Mathura and one person was arrested in this connection.
