Tribal held for poaching panther

BHOPAL: On person has been arrested for electrocuting a panther close to the Panna National Park in Chhattarpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. This is the fourth case of electrocution of big cats in the state – the other three being tigers.

Panther was electrocuted with an electric trap in the Buxwah forest range near the reserve. District forest officer of Chattarpur, Mridul Pathak said that the poacher Prahalad is a member of pardi tribe and had laid the trap to hunt a wild boar. “He was produced before the court on January 27 where he admitted the crime and was sent to jail,” Pathak said.
