Tiger captured in Sunderbans village
The Sunderbans forest officials on Monday captured a tiger that had en tered Tridibnagar village adjo ining the forests of Jharkhali under the South 24-Parganas forest division.
The tiger was first spotted in the village on Friday night and was seen feeding on the carcass of a cow. The carcass, sources said, was floating on the river. The forest officials soon used nylon net to separate the village from the forest. But the tiger managed to tear the net to enter the village again.
A forester said that all the three tigers, that had sneaked into the village, were spotted along the banks of Vidya and Pirkhali rivers. The department vets will check on the big cat on Tuesday and then release it back in the wild.
