Three-year-old tigress dies

A three-year-old tigress died on Wednes in the Van Vihar National Park, forest officials said.

BHOPAL: A three-year-old tigress died on Wednes in the Van Vihar National Park here, forest officials said.

"The tigress named 'Era' died after vomiting," Park Deputy Director A K Khare said.

He said that the big cat was brought to the park in October 2006 from Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve when she was just five months old.

"The tigress had no history of any ailment," forest officials said, adding that the big cat's body weight was around 120 kg.

However, Khare said the exact cause of the tigress's death will be known after the autopsy.
