A team of forest officials in Uttarakhand recovered the decomposed body of a 4-year-old tiger near Dhela river in the Corbett Tiger Reserve near Ramnagar in Nainital district on Saturday.

DEHRADUN: A team of forest officials in Uttarakhand recovered the decomposed body of a 4-year-old tiger near Dhela river in the Corbett Tiger Reserve near Ramnagar in Nainital district on Saturday.

The body of a 4-year-old tiger was recovered three days after a team of forest officials found a mutilated carcass of a 6-year-old near Corbett. A senior forest officer in Ramnagar said they have recovered carcass of three tigers from the region during the last one week.

He said the circumstances under which these carcasses were found, the possibility of foul play cannot be ruled out. The post-mortem has revealed that animal may have been poisoned by poachers.

As the news spread, senior forest officers from Corbett and Tarai-West divisions including director Samir Sinha and deputy director Saket Badola rushed to the spot. They said as the body was decomposed, they are not able to ascertain the sex of animal.
