Three arrested for killing peacocks

Three persons were today arrested in Sareni area of Rae Bareli district, about 80 kms from the state capital, for allegedly killing peacocks, police said.

LUCKNOW: Three persons were today arrested in Sareni area of Rae Bareli district, about 80 kms from the state capital, for allegedly killing peacocks, police said on Sunday.

Badlu, Ansar and Beni were arrested from Dhanpal village this morning for killing the peacocks, whose remains, including feather, were recovered from them, they said.

Police said that the incident came to the fore when they were about to bury the remains of the peacocks, which they killed for commercial purposes.

The accused have been booked under Wildlife Protection Act, they said.
