Sariska Tiger Reserve gets a cub

ALWAR/JAIPUR: The Sariska Tiger Reserve has got its first cub since the relocation of the big cats began there.

The birth was confirmed early this morning after a camera captured the picture of a cub somewhere in Sariska, an official said.

The cub is almost two-months-old. This is the first birth since tiger relocation which took place in June 2008, he said.

Rajasthan forest and environment minister Bina Kak said it was a "very exciting" news.

"We were hopeful of the good news which came today. It is a result of favourable atmosphere and we expect that the population of the big cats would get a boost," she added.

There are two male and three female tigers in Sariska.
