Prowling leopard shot dead in Assam

A leopard, which had injured five persons in this Assam district, was shot dead by forest guards on Friday after all their efforts to chase the big cat away proved to be in vain.

SIBSAGAR: A leopard, which had injured five persons in this Assam district, was shot dead by forest guards on Friday after all their efforts to chase the big cat away proved to be in vain.

Police said the fully-grown leopard had attacked and injured five people at Naujan village. Forest officials rushed to the spot after receiving information.

The guards first resorted to blank fire to scare away the leopard and when their efforts failed, they shot it dead.
