Poachers arrested near Corbett National Park

In a significant success, the Uttarakhand forest department has nabbed five poachers at Ramnagar, the gateway of Corbett National Park.

NAINITAL: In a significant success, the Uttarakhand forest department has nabbed five poachers at Ramnagar, the gateway of Corbett National Park, 40kms from here.

Acting on a tip-off provided by an organization engaged in wildlife protection, Tarai West forest division of the state Forest Department took five poachers into custody yesterday night after a joint raid with the organization.

Though some of poachers managed to escape, a tigress' skin was recovered from the arrested poachers.

The poachers confessed to their crime and told the officials about their intention to sell the skin in Delhi, officials said.

The forest department team also recovered a trap and other equipments from them.
