BAHRAICH: The Untghat area of Tikri forest would be developed into a deer safari.

Chief secretary Javed Usmani wrote a letter to the chief forest conservator (wildlife) Rupak Dey and asked to prepare an action plan be sent to the Central government for approval. If the proposal is approved, Gonda would be the first district of Uttar Pradesh where the deer safari would be developed. Tikri forest, located in Terai belt is considered to be an apt deer habitat as different species are found here.

Forest and horticulture minister SP Yadav had proposed the Untghat area of Tikri forest to be develop into a deer safari like the lion safari in Etawah.
