Nearly 200 saplings planted at Subedarganj

ALLAHABAD: In order to conserve natural resources, it is imperative that people should undertake plantation drive so that our ecosystem can be preserved, asserted HC Joshi, general manager of North Central Railways while inaugurating a plantation drive at the newly constructed railway colony Railgaon at Subedarganj here on Saturday.

Speaking further, he observed: "The world is grappling with global warming leading to water shortage, apart from other problems, on Earth." He said that people should undertake plantation drive as religion and each citizen should come forward and atleast plant one sapling. This would result in protecting the environment.

The general manager planted saplings of 'jamun'. About 200 saplings of various trees were planted on the occasion. The volunteers of Scouts and Guides were also present who also watered the saplings.

Regional Forest Officer Atul Kant Shukla has informed that about 15000 saplings have been planted in the premises of the Railgaon since 2006. These plants always attract visitors frequenting this colony.

On the occasion, chief signal and telecom engineer Anand Kumar, chief mechanical engineer AK Kansal, senior deputy general manager (General) Sanjay Singh Negi, chief public relations officer Sandeep Mathur and other officers of North Central Railways were present on the occasion.
