Missing tiger from Panna Tiger Reserve found near Uttar Pradesh border

A tiger which went missing from the Panna Tiger Reserve was finally tracked down by the officials from Sagar district near Uttar Pradesh borders on Sunday.

BHOPAL: A tiger which went missing from the Panna Tiger Reserve (PTR) was finally tracked down by the officials from Sagar district near Uttar Pradesh borders on Sunday.

Director PTR, R Srinivas Murthy said, “The tiger was missing from the reserve since August 2012. We have caught and tranquilized the tiger today”

The tiger was found at Nandsagar division in Sagar district which is hardly 8 kilometers from Uttar Pradesh borders, he said. “The animal went missing from August last year and our team was on work for cathching the animal from Saturday,” he said.

The animal would be released in Satpura, Murthy told TOI.

It is worth mentioning that tiger named at P211 was a major concern for the officials who did all their best to track it down, said sources.

The team of doctors which tranquilized the tiger included Dr Sanjeev Gupta of PTR and a doctor from Satpura reserve, added sources.
