Man killed by tiger

A 35-year-old man was killed and partially eaten by a tiger in Bhira range of south Kheri forest division on Thursday night.

LUCKNOW: A 35-year-old man was killed and partially eaten by a tiger in Bhira range of south Kheri forest division on Thursday night. The forest department recovered the partially eaten body from a sugarcane field on Friday morning.

The man moved out of his home on Thursday night to answer nature's call when he is suspected to have been attacked by a tiger. "We began searching for the body on Friday morning after villagers informed us about his disappearance," said DFO, South Kheri, Neeraj Kumar.

The tiger had dragged the man inside the sugarcane field. The incident occured at least four kilometers off the forest boundary. A hunt for the tiger has been launched and alert sounded.

The man was a resident of Dinraul village. The forest department gave Rs 10,000 to the family of the deceased to meet immediate needs. Meanwhile, a proposal to grant compensation to the family has been forwarded to the headquarters.
