Male panther found dead in Ooty
A male panther was found dead in the Gudalur division of forests in the Nilgiris on Thursday.
The panther aged around 5 years was found dead in a private banana field near Cherambadi range of forests in the Gudalur division.
The patta land owners, after sighting the dead animal, immediately informed forest officials who rushed to the spot and recovered
the body.
“The panther must have died at least a few days ago. There seems to be no foul play in the death of the animal. But the cause of the death will be known only after we get the postmortem report,” Deepak S Bilji, DFO, Gudalur division, told The Times Of India.
According to the official, the postmortem of the animal was conducted on Thursday evening and the carcass was buried.
