Major fire in Valmiki Nagar tiger reserve, 10 hectares of forest gutted

A major fire broke out in Valmiki Nagar tiger reserve at Madanpur range near Indo-Nepal border, destroying about ten hectares of forest, a forest official said today.

BAGAHA (Bihar): A major fire broke out in Valmiki Nagar tiger reserve at Madanpur range near Indo-Nepal border, destroying about ten hectares of forest, a forest official said today.

The fire which broke out last evening continued for nearly 12 hours till this morning before forest guards could control it, forest ranger Zunaid Ali said.

He said work had already begun to assess the loss of animals and birds.

The cause of the fire was being ascertained.
