Maharashtra government forest department to celebrate Tiger Day on big scale

The state government has decided to celebrate the International Tiger Day, on July 29 at large scale. The forest department is planning to organize seminars, awareness programme and exhibitions on the Day.

MUMBAI: The state government has decided to celebrate the International Tiger Day, on July 29 at large scale. The forest department is planning to organize seminars, awareness programme and exhibitions on the Day.

An official said that the department is planning to hold various programme at district level and Mumbai as well on reserve tiger issue. The details instructions will be issued soon, said an official.

International Tiger Day is held every year on July 29 to give worldwide attention to the conservation of tigers. The celebration of Tiger Day has been decided at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in 2010 followed by demands made by various animal welfare organisations.

The aim of Tiger Day is to promote the protection and increase the number of wild tigers habitats.
