RAJKOT: Lioness Meera in Rajkot Zoo has given birth to two cubs. According to Rajkot Zoo officials' lioness Meera and two cubs are healthy and they have been kept under observations.

Two days ago, lioness 'Moj' at Rajkot Zoo had given birth to two cubs and both were healthy.

There are now total 18 lions in the zoo which include 10 adults and eight cubs.

According to Rajkot Zoo superintendent Dr. R K Hirpara, Lioness Moj was meted with Lion Arjun who was brought to Hydrabad Zoo.

"We are both lionesses are under observations at the Zoo'' Hirpara said.

RMC is planning to bring more animals at the Zoo like Wolf, jackal, Indian Fox, and Striped Hyena among others. The construction of open enclosures are underway and wild animals will be brought in a phased manner'' said an official.

"There are 17 open enclosures at present in the Zoo and five more enclosures are being constructed at the Zoo'' said an official.

Sources at Rajkot Zoo said that there 104 animals of 19 species in the zoo. The 'Rajkot Zoological Park' covers 55.37 ha area which is undulating with ridges and valleys, rocky outcrops and well drained, surrounded by two big lakes Lalpari and Randarda. The zoo has lions, tigers, leopard, four-horned antelope, crocodiles, chinkaras, sambhars and black bucks among others.
