Leopard kills woman

A woman was killed by a leopard in the Khatima area of Udhamsingh Nagar district, taking the total number of those killed in such attacks this year to 16.

DEHRA DUN: A woman was killed by a leopard in the Khatima area of Udhamsingh Nagar district, taking the total number of those killed in such attacks this year to 16, official sources said on Tuesday.

Phoolwati (40), a resident of Charubeta village, along with her son had gone to fetch firewoods from the jungles of Chada yesterday when the big cat attacked her.

The half-eaten body of Phoolwati was later recovered by the villagers from inside the jungles.

The incidents of attack by leopard in this area have increased on humans particularly on women and children, during the winters.

As per the official records, nearly 16 people lost their lives and as many injured in such attacks this year alone.

Winter is considered as the breeding season of the beast and wildlife experts say, the mother leopard look for an easy pray in the close vicinity
